Liverpool must beat bitter rivals Real Madrid to sign Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo as a future replacement for outbound Mohamed Salah.
Mohamed Salah has been one of the most impactful players in the Reds‘ recent glorious history. He has been part of an inevitable Liverpool team who have been dominating the English football for the past half-decade.
And claims of him being one of the best players in the world is also not quite farfetched. Brentford manager Thomas Frank praised Salah’s class after his brace against Brentford by saying,
“Off the top of my head, there is a chance he’s the best player in the Premier League, potentially. In terms of goals and assists. What a level!
He must be one of the best offensive players in the world. Like, not top 10, but top three.”
But this summer brought in bad news for the Merseysiders in the form of big money offers for the Egyptian forward from Saudi Arabia. Although the club was able to hold him off for this season, he will most probably leave Anfield.
Liverpool might battle Real Madrid to sign Takefusa Kubo
Even though the English giants have scouted a few players, a strong candidate to replace Salah could be Takefusa Kubo. The Real Sociedad player is a left-footed right-winger, similar to the Egyptian King’s profile.
But LFC could face some trouble from Los Blancos who are also interested in the 22-year-old. The Japanese international was reportedly valued at £52M while a buy-back clause inserted by Real Madrid when allowing him to leave allows them to bring him back for around half of the release clause figure.
Wataru Endo’s national teammate has been incredible this season with 5 goals and 3 assists in 16 appearances across all competitions (stats via Transfermarkt). So there is very little room for argument about his capabilities and talent.
By the end of this season, he will have quite evidently established himself as a household name. So if Liverpool really wants to get the deal done for a cheaper price, they should work fast toward it.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
