Liverpool is keen on getting back the young Portuguese talent Vitinha again in England after one season playing for the Wolves.

A graduate from Porto academy moved to Wolves on loan in Premier League 2020-21 season. He registered 22 appearances in that season for the Wanderers.

Vitinha made his Premier League debut against Manchester United on 29th December 2020. However, the Wolves lost that game.

The Portuguese first goal for the Wolves was a thunderous 35-yard strike. His goal that day proved enough to win away 1–0 over non-league side Chorley in the FA Cup.

The interest of Liverpool in Vitinha

According to O Jogo, as translated by Sports Witness, Liverpool are following the Portugal international. As the Merseysiders are looking with a lot of attention ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report also cites interest from Bayern Munich and Lazio. The midfielder has been recently hailed as ‘fabulous’ by manager Sergio Conceicao following a standout display in a 4-2 victory over Pacos de Ferreira.

Meanwhile, for Vitinha, when Sergio Oliviera departed for Roma in January 2022, the former Wolverhampton man further consolidated his place as a starter, impressing Porto’s manager Sergio Conceicao.

The 22-year-old’s performances without the ball and his pressing have been impressive in the league. As some label him ideal for Jurgen Klopp’s system.

Meanwhile, his impressive performances have not gone unnoticed. The Porto man received the league’s Player of the Month and Midfielder of the Month for two consecutive months in December and January.

Is a midfield addition necessary?

Liverpool are enjoying a stellar season so far with already EFL Cup in the bag. Moreover, reaching FA Cup and Champions League Semifinals.

On the other hand, the Reds are just mere 1 point behind leaders Man City in the league table.

Liverpool’s attack and the defense look good with the presence of players like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane leading from the front and having Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold at the back.

But, Klopp surely has in mind of midfielder’s addition to the team. As players like Henderson and James Milner do not start regularly. Moreover, players like Naby Keita and Thiago Alcantara who are very highly rated have fitness issues.

Also, with transfer rumors of some midfield players leaving the club, Vitinha’s age and performances lately appeal to the Anfield club.
