Tielemans is the name that was linked with Liverpool throughout the summer window, after Wijnaldum’s departure. But instead, Klopp trusted young Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones to kick off their 2021-22 campaign.

As per reports from 90min, Tielemans has rejected the latest contract offer from Leicester. The Belgian’s contract rejection is fueling rumours that he could leave the club in the near future.

When asked by Sky Sports about whether there was an update on his future, the 24-year-old said

There’s no update really. I’m open to everything. The transfer market has just closed, but I want to keep as many options as I can open.

Tielemans is already in his fourth season with Leicester City and has proved to be a key figure for Brendan Roger’s team. He played a pivotal role in winning the FA Cup last season wherein in the finals he scored a stunner.

Tielemans and Liverpool – A perfect fit for each other

There is no doubt, Liverpool are in the market to add a quality midfielder in their current squad.

After Wijnaldum’s departure, Liverpool fans were worried about how would Liverpool shape up in the midfield. But thanks to Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones, the two young lads have shown their qualities in the middle of the park.

But unfortunately, Elliott has been unlucky as he suffered a serious injury during a trip to Leeds United at Elland Road.

Both Thiago and Keita have been consistent with injuries. While Alex Oxlade Chamberlain looking to leave due to lack of game time. Moreover, Mr reliable James Milner being 35 years old will be approaching the end of his career most probably by the end of this season.

Klopp knows adding a quality midfielder is necessary for the club and Tielemans is just what Liverpool needs. The 24-year-old can be the direct replacement for Wijnaldum, due to a similar playing style.

Tielemans could keep up with the physical demands placed on his players by Jurgen Klopp. Moreover, the Belgian international is a good passer and can score outstanding goals.

And just like Wijnaldum use to play almost every game for Liverpool, Tielemans hardly miss matches for Leicester City. His work ethic is superb and would prove to be a midfield engine for the Reds.

With qualities possessed by the Belgium international, he deserves a big move to a giant European Club. With Liverpool’s huge structure and efforts to continuously challenge for big trophies in England and in Europe, Liverpool could turn out to be a good option for Tielemans.

The 24-year-old;s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023. Thus, Leicester City have an important decision to make next summer. And if Liverpool have to snap up Tielemans to Anfield next summer it would require them to pay a hefty transfer fee.
