Liverpool EFL cup Semifinalists are revealed

After a nail-biting win at home against Leicester City in the EFL Cup quarterfinals, Liverpool are now through to the last 4 of the tournament along with Tottenham, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

The Reds Hosted The Foxes at Anfield on 22nd December. Leicester were leading at halftime by 3-1 before Jota scored Liverpool’s second in the 68th minute and an Injury time equaliser from Takumi Minamino bought The Reds and The Foxes on level terms.

At full time the score was 3 – 3, and the game went to the penalties. Both the team scored 4 out of their 5 kicks, so it entered into a sudden death penalty shoot-out. With Kelleher saving Ryan Bertrand’s penalty and Jota scoring gave Liverpool the ticket to the semifinals. As The Reds defeated Leicester City 5-4 on penalties.

Who will Liverpool face in the EFL Cup for the semifinals ?

After their win against the Foxes at Anfield, The Reds are all set to face one of the London Giants as the three big clubs from London are in the final four. Namely Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham hotspur.

On one hand, Liverpool are drawn against Arsenal. While on the other side Tottenham and Chelsea meet in a London based rivalry.

The semi-finals of the EFL Carabao cup are played under two legs, the first leg tie will be played between 4-5 January 2022. While the second will be between 11-12 January.

The Reds will not play with both the golden wingers as Salah & Mane are leaving for the Africa cup of nations in January. Moreover, the Reds will also be missing the services of Naby Keita due to the AFCON. Thus Liverpool needs to focus on winning all the six fixtures in January. Three Premier League games, One FA cup, and two EFL Cup fixtures.

After facing Chelsea away from home in Premier League on 2nd January, the Reds will face Arsenal at Emirates on 4th January 2022. The players have only one day in between to rest and prepare. With Salah, Mane, and Keita gone it’ll be difficult for Jurgen to rotate the front three.

The Only good news is Salah will be staying behind to play against Chelsea.

January is gonna be a very thrilling and interesting month as Liverpool are still in all four competitions and there are a lot of speculations that the Reds are going to be active in the transfer market and we can expect some big names coming to Anfield.
