Liverpool defender Billy Koumetio will make his return to Liverpool now ‘as good as certain’.

Billy Koumetio is “almost certain” to join the team this month after spending time on loan at Austria Vienna.

Kicker confirms rumours from yesterday that his temporary relocation to Austria would be cancelled.

Koumetio’s statements from Vienna’s sporting director Manuel Ortlechner were discussed yesterday. Ortlechner said he planned to speak with Liverpool on the phone about Koumetio’s loan agreement.

He claimed that the Reds intended to recall the 20-year-old early from his loan assignment. Furthermore, Kicker has confirmed that this is likely.

At this point, they claim that a return to Liverpool is “almost certain” because the defence “was not convincing.”

Koumetio has made the matchday squad just seven times this season. Moreover, he only has achieved five Bundesliga matches. Only three of those have been among the first 11.

He was sitting on the bench against LASK. The defender was not part of Vienna’s team following three games. And he had missed the previous five as well.

Moreover, his most recent league outing was a 45-minute performance on September 3rd against SC Austria Lustenau. And it appears Liverpool are trying to make up ground by bringing him back.

Billy Koumetio returns back after an unsuccessful loan spell

Liverpool are recalling Billy Koumetio. It occurs at the same time as Virgil van Dijk’s injury. Although it’s not apparent if the two have a connection.

After being replaced at halftime of the 3-1 loss to Brentford on Monday night, it is unknown how long Van Dijk will be out. However, the Reds have already learnt that the muscle problem is more severe than initially believed and that the Dutchman will be referred to a specialist.

Koumetio started the season with the first team. But by early September, he had lost all his opportunities to play in the Austrian Bundesliga. Before the winter break, he played primarily for the club’s second team while still participating in the OFB Cup.
