Liverpool are showing interest in Real Madrid’s 25-years-old attacking midfielder/ forward Marco Asensio. The Spanish has a contract with Madrid that will expire in 2023.

The 25 years-old has already rejected the offers from Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan this summer. The Mallorcan bet on his continuity at Madrid and wants to recover his best version in the white. However, according to Spanish outlet Todofichajes, Liverpool are preparing a bid of around £30.07m for the forward to bring him to Anfield.

Recovering from a knee injury in 2019, Asensio hardly made any appearances in the following year. Speaking about his recovery the Spanish international said

It has been a tough season, in which, in spite of the obstacles, we made a great team effort, fighting to win until the end. For me, personally, it has been a year of great learning, overcoming pain and situations that have made me much stronger and helped me to grow as a player”

It will be interesting to see how he fits in the Liverpool squad if he does make a move away from Spain.

How will Asensio fit in the Liverpool squad?

After returning from the injury, Asensio made 48 appearances for the Los Blancos. However, he was able to find the net only 7 times in the 2020-21 season.

But Asensio could fit into the Liverpool style of play and give manager Jurgen Klopp different options in the attacking midfield. Asensio has the experience. He has the dribbling abilities plus the speed to fit in the Liverpool squad. He would be a great signing for the Reds.

Liverpool didn’t make many signings in this summer’s transfer window. With RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate being the only player signed by the Reds so far in this year. Although Konate is fast, and tall, with some great technical abilities. Thus, one can say, he has a little bit of Virgil Van Dijk in him.

But speaking about the attacking part, Liverpool are yet to make a move in the transfer market. Moreover, Liverpool fans will be happy if the former Premier League champions sign a player like Asensio, who can find himself in good positions in the box.
