In a friendly match, the bright young stars of Liverpool were put on display in a 6-1 success over the Fowler Academy. The match also provided an opportunity for Alvin Ayman to make his debut for the club after recently signing.

Ayman is a 16-year-old midfielder who came over to Liverpool from Wolves earlier this summer, but the transfer was delayed due to a deep investigation initiated by the Premier League.

Eventually, the deal was finalized last month, which then aligned for Ayman to participate in the friendly match.

Liverpool U18s beats Fowler Academy in a Friendly

Under the guidance of coach Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, Liverpool dominated the game, with club legend Robbie Fowler watching from the sidelines.

The Reds’ impressive attacking display was led by winger Joe Bradshaw, who has been a consistent threat since breaking into the U18s last season. Bradshaw scored in the first half, along with Afolami Onanuga and Lucas Pitt, giving Liverpool a comfortable lead.

Despite Ethan Smallee pulling one back for the Fowler Academy, Liverpool continued to press forward in the second half. The Reds managed to get two more from striker Josh Sonni-Lambie and another from attacker Kareem Ahmed, sealing a 6-1 victory for the young Reds.

Liverpool U18s gear up for League action with Ayman and Ngumoha

Not only did the fixture act as a preparation match for Liverpool’s U18 Premier League North campaign, which kicks off again next Saturday with a game versus Blackburn Rovers at Kirkby, but also both Ayman and fellow new signing Rio Ngumoha can make their competitive debuts for the team in the next game, which will only add to the squad complexity and depth.

The friendly match provided Liverpool’s youngsters with a chance to stay sharp throughout the break in competitive action, and Ayman’s presence alone demonstrates the club’s ambitions to bring players in.

It is also important to note how the U18s’ response was just as impactful as Ayman being in the line-up in that Liverpool continues to commit to a vision of developing the next generation, not just those who have real paths to professional football.
