Jurgen Klopp recently stated that there will be quite a few changes in the Liverpool squad in the upcoming summer.
Liverpool have been quite disappointed this season. They are currently in 9th position in the Premier League and Klopp will do everything possible to bring the team back on track.
Fans want the club and manager to make more signings in this transfer window however the Reds manager has made clear there will be no further signings having already signed Cody Gakpo earlier this month.
Midfield to be the main focus for Jurgen Klopp to make changes in the Liverpool squad
No doubt midfield has been the major factor in Liverpool’s embarrassing season. Fans were expecting that some signings will be made to tackle the situation but it seems like there will be no more signings from the Reds this January.
However, with the current midfielders like Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner leaving the club this summer, the club definitely has to make some signings in the summer.
Furthermore, Klopp has insisted that he’s not too loyal to his current players despite some criticisms that members of the current dressing room are past their best.
Jude Bellingham is the Reds’ main target for the summer but it won’t be an easy signing as Real Madrid and Manchester City are in the race as well. The Dortmund player is said to cost a whopping 100 million Euros. Along with him, Klopp is interested in Wolves’ Matheus Nunes who can cost 44 million Euros.
Klopp will not leave the club
Recently, Klopp was asked if he will leave the club. The manager replied saying:
“It is an intelligent question. At Borussia Dortmund, it was clear when I left (in 2015) – I said something has to change. It is a different situation (here). Either the manager’s position changes or a lot of other things change.”
Further, Klopp added that as far as he is concerned, he won’t leave the club until and unless someone tells him to leave. Moreover, he said that a time will come when they have to change some stuff but that is for the future, like in the summer or whatever.
Adding to this Klopp was asked about their club’s disappointing season. The manager said:
“We have to play better football now. We cannot play and say: ‘OK, these are the problems but next season we don’t have them anymore’. That is a really long time. I cannot promise we will fly tomorrow but what I want to promise is that we really fight and everyone can see it.”
Further ahead, Klopp said that he wants to fix this situation, problems will be there but it is quite expected and with all the injuries, it’s much more than expected.
