Jurgen Klopp gives an update on Liverpool’s transfer situation and clarifies if the Reds would make any more signings in this window.

According to Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool won’t make any more acquisitions in the current transfer window.

The Reds’ erratic play continued on Sunday, as they lost 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion and were eliminated from the FA Cup.

Despite being paired with the current Champions League champion Real Madrid in the round of 16, Liverpool can only win the competition this year. Furthermore, Los Blancos defeated the Reds in the season’s championship game.

Klopp’s team currently sits in ninth place in the Premier League, making it difficult to reach the Champions League the following season.

Jurgen Klopp comments on signing anyone in the current transfer window

Although Liverpool just acquired Cody Gakpo, there is still a need from supporters for the club to sign a midfielder. However, following the Brighton defeat, Klopp spoke to Bein Sports:

“No, no, no. Nothing will happen in this transfer window. That’s all. All good.”

The Reds lost again to Brighton at their home. They also lost to Brighton 3-0 a fortnight earlier. This defeat is referred to as the worst of Jurgen Klopp’s managerial career.

After Lewis Dunk’s fortunate goal offset Harvey Elliott’s first-half goal, the match appeared headed for a rematch. However, Japanese sensation Mitoma scored at the far post in the dying moments. He fooled Joe Gomez as he handled Pervis Estupinan’s cross and rifled the winning goal.

Brighton was without wanted midfielder Moises Caicedo. Caicedo made his intentions known after Arsenal had a £60 million deal rejected. Moreover, the Ecuadorian midfielder was also mentioned in relation to Liverpool.

It was Brighton’s second victory over Liverpool this month; they had already defeated Juergen Klopp’s team 3-0 in a Premier League match. Salah and Solly March for Brighton both wasted fantastic opportunities in the second half before Mitoma handled the ball on the half-volley and scored a stunning late winner.
