RUMOUR: 36-Year-Old Manager Eyed for Liverpool Job – Who’s the Mystery Contender?

Amidst uncertainty over who will succeed Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool’s manager, reports suggest that 36-year-old German tactician Julian Nagelsmann has emerged as a potential candidate for Liverpool.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth revealed that Nagelsmann, currently managing the German national team, could be considering a move before the Euros.

Although Nagelsmann’s youth and coaching acumen are acknowledged, concerns linger over his departure from Bayern Munich due to internal conflicts.

Nagelsmann to Liverpool?

According to Sheth, the German is wanting his future sorting before the Euros, with Liverpool waiting in the wings. Writing for GiveMeSport, Sheth said,

“Liverpool know Jurgen Klopp is going. They must start doing their due diligence, which will have already started with a new manager.

There’s talk of Julian Nagelsmann. He wants his future sorted before the Euros.

It’s pretty clever that he wants to do that because if he can get a new contract sorted before the European Championships start, it takes the pressure away from him come the summer.

Of course, there will be pressure because it’s a home tournament, and he wants to do well in it. But he doesn’t want that to depend on whether he gets a new contract as the national team manager.”

Sheth continued,

“So, that could come to a head before the end of the season.

If he were to sign a new contract at Germany, maybe that would take him out of the equation for potential Premier League clubs. He’s also been linked with Manchester United and, of course, Liverpool.”

Journalist Ben Jacobs also casts doubt on Nagelsmann’s suitability for Liverpool’s managerial role.

Nevertheless, if Germany opt not to extend his contract, Liverpool might explore the possibility of interviewing him.

Notably, Nagelsmann has attracted interest from other clubs like Tottenham in the past, indicating his esteemed reputation in coaching circles.

With the likes of Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi also in contention, Liverpool’s management, led by Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, face a crucial decision in selecting Klopp’s successor.

The club’s future direction hangs in the balance as they go through a pool of potential candidates, each with their own merits and drawbacks.
