Liverpool will, most probably, not be signing any new midfielder this transfer window. But a journalist has given the description of a midfield profile Klopp desires.

There is just over a week left in the summer transfer market. And demands for another Anfield signing before midnight on September 1 have grown.

Supporters have long prioritized it. But Merseyside writers are now supporting the idea that a fresh face is due after a string of injuries and a poor campaign start.

Along with Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Curtis Jones, Naby Keita joins the list of absentees. This leaves Klopp with five senior midfield options, including natural forwards Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho.

The pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni, of course, cast doubt on Klopp’s earlier claims that he was content with his midfield choices.

Klopp’s dream midfield profile

Since it is “obvious that [he] would like to reinforce if the right player was available,” Paul Joyce of the Times has now understood the kind of midfielder Klopp would “ideally” want to sign before the transfer deadline.

According to Paul, Klopp doesn’t want to sign anybody, and he wants a certain profile. He wants a No. 8 who can also play as a No. 6. But it has to be someone who is going to play now and also when the cavalry returns.

Casemiro and Amadou Onana were two players Joyce cited as being unattractive to Liverpool.

It is said that Casemiro, who cost £70 million to acquire from Real Madrid, is not in the appropriate position. He is also not at the right price and, at 30, not the right age.

Onana, a £34 million acquisition by Everton from Lille, will “need time to get up to speed,”

Of course, it is quite challenging to find a player who fits this description. Especially if the long-term goal is to compete with Jude Bellingham when he leaves Dortmund as foreseen next summer.

Players like Konrad Laimer, Florian Neuhaus, and Fabian Ruiz are among others who might be available
