Following the Liverpool defeat against Brentford 3-1 on Monday, Jamie Carragher has asked Liverpool to spend 200 million Euros on signing three new midfielders and support Jurgen Klopp financially.
The Reds suffered an embarrassing defeat against Brentford last night. Thomas Frank’s side has been unbelievable this season. Before defeating the Reds, the Bees also defeated Manchester United and Manchester City. Thomas Frank’s men even drew the games against Chelsea and Tottenham.
Heading into the half time, Klopp’s men were lagging behind 2-0. Ibrahima Konate scored an own goal in the 19th minute and to make it a Happy New Year for the Bees, Harvey Elliott gifted another to Youane Wissa.
After half-time, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored a goal for the Reds. However, the match ended 3-1 with Bryan Mbeumo scoring third for his team.

After the match, while speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher targeted the age of Liverpool players. The English commenter added that there are lots of players who are in their 30s or are going into their 30s who have done well for the club. However, he said, that is one of the reasons why the ownership is up for sale, or they’re looking for investment.
Moreover, Carragher further gave examples of Chelsea and Manchester United about how they spent so much in the summer, still, they are not close to winning the title. The former England international said that this shows what kind of funds you need to compete for the top. Adding to this he further said:
“Liverpool year in, year out, have sold someone, bought someone, but I think this is a case of now Liverpool need to spend about £200 million.”
Though the English commenter even contradicted a little saying money is not everything for success. But for Liverpool, it is as if they need to sign new midfielders for 40-50 million Euros each.
Jurgen Klopp needs to solve the midfielders concern
Not only in yesterday’s match, but throughout this season Liverpool are seen struggling in the midfield. Their midfielders like James Milner, Thiago, and Henderson are getting trolled for not performing at their full potential.
This is troublesome for Klopp and he needs to do something about it. Jude Bellingham is the most expected approach who’s assumed to join the Reds in the summer. As for Enzo Fernandez, he is close to joining Chelsea so it’s over with him for Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp recently said that they can’t start splashing money and have to raise some cash before spending. So let’s wait and see what Klopp’s next move will be.
