Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Liverpool have not placed any offer for the current World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez.

After an electrifying World Cup campaign, Enzo has been the number-one target for top European giants. The Argentine was also named the best young player of the tournament in Qatar.

Ben Jacobs on Enzo Fernandez transfer saga

Liverpool were keeping an eye on the Benfica star for a long time but according to journalist Ben Jacobs, there is no official bid between the two clubs. According to the sources, English giants ‘never went in’ for the player due to the unexpected valuation of Enzo.

Ben told the Born And Red podcast:

“Liverpool never placed a bid. I know there are some reports out there that say to the contrary, but my Liverpool sources have categorically stated that they never went in for Enzo Fernandez because they know the valuation is crazy”.

According to reports Benfica have a £120M release clause. They earlier signed the River Plate for an initial £8.8M. They have no intentions to sell their star man away, especially in the winter transfer window.

What’s next for Liverpool?

LFC is in deep trouble considering their transfer targets, who were Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez. The English wonder kid is still the Merseyside giant’s top priority. But it won’t be easy for them considering Real Madrid are aiming for him to strengthen their midfield.

Real has a history of blockbuster signings. Time and time again they have found success through that approach. Whether it is Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United or Gareth Bale from Spurs. On the other hand, Liverpool have never been a club that believes in the throwing money approach.

As of now, Enzo now looks like a far-fetched idea as Chelsea have already taken a long jump in that race. While the Reds will now have their eyes set on Bellingham, who is going to have a talk with Borussia Dortmund this week.
