James Milner names the new signing that will fit just perfectly in the Liverpool XI

Liverpool veteran midfielder James Milner has revealed the new signing, which would fit well in the Reds’ starting XI.

Darwin Nunez is Liverpool’s most exciting acquisition of the summer.

Liverpool broke their club record for the most expensive signing to land the Uruguayan.

The Uruguayan came to Anfield earlier this summer after leaving Benfica for a fee of up to £85 million. And he went on preseason trips with them to Asia, Germany, and Austria.

After a disastrous opening 4-0 loss to rival Manchester United in Bangkok, Klopp’s team bounced back to upset Crystal Palace 2-0 in Singapore and then crushed RB Leipzig 5-0 at the Red Bull Arena.

The star player made his debut in his new colors by scoring four goals in the match against the German team.

Milner on Liverpool’s top new signing Darwin Nunez

Milner has been at the Merseyside club since 2015 and has participated in previous preseason workouts under Klopp. He gave his opinion on this year’s campaign preparations as well as how Nunez has adjusted.

The 36-year-old said on the club’s official website:

“I think it’s the same every season, it’s always tricky; you don’t know where you stand, how good the pre-season has been.

Everyone is obviously all over the place, people are playing different minutes, different times of training, and some players come back later than others. It’s the same for every team, and it’s never easy. I

t’s a completely new season, you’re not going to go into the season exactly where you are. All we can do is what we’ve done every year: work as hard as possible, do the preparation as well as possible, and get the fitness working. It helps, the group we’ve had: we’ve been together a long time, with a few additions obvious.

Darwin (Nunez) doesn’t seem to have struggled too much settling in, with the goals he’s been banging in already. That’s great to see. All you can do is prepare as well as you can and hopefully you’re ready.”

Milner further said it helps since they have been together for a long time. The team now has an experience of preseasons, highs, and lows, as well as winning and losing championships. That certainly makes things easier as a new season begins.

The Liverpool supporters will be relieved by Milner’s comments regarding Nunez.

Despite thriving in the second half in Germany, the striker failed to score in either of his first two preseason matches, raising questions about his fitness.

The 23-year-old has a strong resume, having scored 34 goals in 41 games for Benfica the previous season (stats via whoscored.com).

So will Nunez be a Suarez or an Andy Carrol? Only time will tell. While Liverpool prepares for the clash of the titans fixture against Manchester City.
