Liverpool’s interest in Schalke’s young talent, Assan Ouedraogo, has been confirmed by renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Ouedraogo, a 17-year-old midfielder, has started making waves in Bundesliga 2, and Liverpool seems determined to secure his services.

However, they face competition from top clubs, including Bayern Munich.

Ouedraogo’s Rapid Rise

Ouedraogo’s emergence owes much to Schalke’s relegation, which provided him with the opportunity to make a breakthrough in senior football.

Further, Schalke’s renowned academy, which has produced stars like Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sane, now boasts Ouedraogo as the latest addition to their list of prodigious talents.

Bayern’s Interest and Liverpool’s Challenge

Like Neuer and Sane, Ouedraogo could potentially make a move to Bayern Munich, who have also expressed interest in the young talent.

This could prompt Liverpool to act swiftly and decisively to secure the player’s services.

Liverpool’s Midfield Options

Liverpool has already strengthened its midfield during the summer, with Jurgen Klopp bringing in several players.

Despite this, Klopp is exploring further options to enhance the team’s midfield, considering moves for players like Jamal Musiala, Ezequiel Fernandez, and Andre.

Ouedraogo emerges as an alternative if these pursuits fail.

Competition Heats Up

Liverpool’s pursuit of Ouedraogo faces stiff competition, with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich showing interest in the young midfielder.

However, it’s RB Leipzig that seems determined to take the lead in securing Ouedraogo’s signature.

The Race for Ouedraogo

RB Leipzig have initiated contact with Ouedraogo’s agents to discuss the conditions of a potential deal, putting other clubs on red alert.

The midfielder could be available for a relatively modest fee of £15 million. Jurgen Klopp, a strong admirer of Ouedraogo, is also considering the young talent as an option for January.

Liverpool in Race for Ouedraogo

Writing in his Daily Briefing this morning, Romano confirmed Liverpool’s interest, as well as naming two potential challengers,

“There have been reports about Liverpool being keen on Schalke youngster Assan Ouedraogo, and yes it’s true that Liverpool like him.

But it’s the same for Bayern Munich and AC Milan. They are all informed on his situation, on his release clauses – he has different ones based on the clubs interested.

For sure he’s a top talent and that’s why those three clubs are interested. I think he has great potential, he’ll need some time to develop but he looks a very good player.”

Ouedraogo’s Promise

Described as an “absolute star in the making” by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, Ouedraogo has posted impressive statistics in his career so far, with 31 contributions, 17 goals, and 14 assists in 46 appearances.

He excels in successful take-ons, indicating his pace, dribbling ability, and his capability to create opportunities for his team.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Assan Ouedraogo, the young Schalke midfielder, demonstrates their commitment to securing promising talents for the future.

However, they face fierce competition from top clubs, particularly RB Leipzig, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich.

Ouedraogo’s impressive stats and winning mentality make him an attractive prospect for Liverpool. To secure his signature, Liverpool may need to act swiftly to avoid paying a premium in the future.
