After Arne Slot joined LFC, we are all waiting for a revolutionary signing to happen. But, as reports are coming in, Liverpool has failed to take Michele Di Gregorio in. It was a good opportunity for the Reds, but ultimately, Juventus won the transfer deal.
Liverpool was interested in signing Michele Di Gregorio
A couple of senior stars are going to leave the Merseyside Club this summer, or, in the near future.
Apart from Virgil Van Dijk or Mohamed Salah, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is probably leaving the Reds. Amidst all these, news has come out that Liverpool has missed a chance to sign Michele Di Gregorio.
Right now, Anfield is busy rebuilding their team under the Dutchman’s supervision. They are looking to take in a new forward and a new strong option for their central defense. But, it appears that Liverpool could have used a goalkeeper like Michele Di Gregorio. The 26-year-old Italian footballer has finally joined Juventus this week from Monza.
As a former ace from Inter Milan, Gregorio has maintained 12 clean sheets for Monza during their last season. Now, after joining Juventus, he is reportedly set to receive £15 million. But the player’s agent, Carlo Belloni has confirmed to TV Play, that Liverpool was eager for Di Gregorio. They had long conversations, but finally, Juve landed the deal.
“However, we had no doubts about the choice after speaking with Giuntoli. We remained faithful to Juve because it was what he wanted, what Juve wanted and Thiago Motta immediately came up with Di Gregorio’s name.”
