Recent reports suggested that Liverpool received a transfer bid for Thiago from Al-Ahli, but Fabrizio Romano debunks all rumours.
Liverpool have been hit by the departures of many players this season. And most of the transfers have ended up in Saudi Pro League.
The Reds headed into the transfer market with the intention of a midfield rebuild which has been due for quite a few seasons.
And those plans contained retaining the experienced midfielders while incorporating the new players. But that did not go as planned.
The club saw both Henderson and Fabinho leave Anfield and move to Saudi Arabia. And recent reports were suggestive that the Reds might lose Thiago also.
As per a new report via L’Equipe on Thursday, the Merseyside giants received a bid for the Spanish midfield maestro. The report stated,
“Liverpool may lose a new player to Saudi Arabia.
After Fabinho, Henderson and Firmino, it is Thiago Alcantara who is the subject of a Saudi offensive.
Al Ahli has made an offer of €12m to the English in recent hours.”
Fabrizio debunks Thiago leaving Liverpool and joining Al-Ahli
The transfer expert via Twitter has reported on the situation and confirmed that the 32-year-old is staying in Liverpool. He stated,
“Thiago Alcantara, currently not in talks with Al Ahli.
Focused on Liverpool as he already turned down several approaches from Saudi this summer.”
The news came as shocking as it could be. The Anfield giants are already lacking quite a few men in the midfield.
In this situation, losing another player would simply mean that the team would have a lesser chance of competing with other Premier League giants.
As Liverpool still awaits the signing of the third midfielder, Thiago can prove to be an ace for Jurgen Klopp in the midfield.
Although Thiago only has a year left in his contract, the German could use him and potentially make a midfield centering the Spaniard.
