Darwin Nunez agrees on a 6-year deal, Medical scheduled on Monday

Liverpool have completed the signing of Darwin Nunez. With the reported fees, the striker is set to become the Reds’ most expensive signing ever. Darwin Nunez has agreed on a 6-year deal at Anfield and is ready to undergo his medical on Monday.

Liverpool FC have come to an agreement with Benfica FC for the signing of Striker Darwin Nunez. What is left for the Reds is securing the signature of the 22-year-old.

Nunez is one of the most sought-after talents in Europe. The Uruguayan starred in the Portuguese outfit, scoring 34 goals and providing 4 assists in all competitions.

The striker was highly rated at Manchester United. With the club wanting to land the striker at Old Trafford.

But Liverpool have reportedly scooped the deal.

According to cult favourite, Fabrizio Romano, both clubs had a meeting in Portugal and have come to an agreement for the forward.

According to Romano, the South American will sign a six-year contract with the Merseyside giants. This will keep him with the club until the summer of 2028.

Liverpool will pay an initial cost of €80 million (£68.3 million) plus €20 million (£17 million) in add-ons. The Merseyside giants are working rapidly to clinch a deal despite interest from a number of other teams.

Liverpool sporting director Julian Ward led talks in Portugal over the weekend. And according to BBC Sport, all sides are now ready to sign off on the transaction.

Nunez scored 26 goals in 28 league games for Benfica in the 2021-22 season, as well as six goals in ten Champions League matches.

Last season, two of the forward’s six European goals came against Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals, with home and away goals against Jurgen Klopp’s team.

According to Fabrizio, Nunez will travel to England on Monday to undergo the medical.

Nunez will now go from Spain to England with his agent. So, a Reds announcement might come as early as next week.

The forward was left out of Uruguay’s match against Panama on Saturday evening, fueling speculation that he was close to joining the Champions League finalists from last season.
