Can Gerrard make Man City ‘Slip’ the Premier League Title?

Can Gerrard make Man City ‘Slip’ the Premier League Title?

Liverpool would be looking to get some help from the former Captain as Steven Gerrard, who is currently managing Aston Villa face Man City for the final matchday.

Can Steven Gerrard Stop Man City?

The Reds came back to win 2-1 at Southampton on Tuesday night. Ensuring that the title race goes down to the wire.

Man City is in the first place, a point ahead of Liverpool, with both teams playing at home in Sunday’s 4 pm kickoffs.

Liverpool meets Wolves at Anfield, while City host Villa at the Etihad. With the story already written as former players Gerrard, Philippe Coutinho, Danny Ings have the chance to hand their former club the title.

Steven Gerrard is arguably Liverpool’s greatest ever player. The legendary Midfielder has won everything but a league title for the club.

The captain came really close in the 2013-14 EPL Season. But he famously ‘slipped’ in the match against Chelsea. To which opponent Demba Ba Capitalized and scored for Chelsea. Liverpool who were 5 points ahead with 3 matches to go. Went on to drop the title to ahm ahm* Man Cty.

Stevie G has a chance to deliver this time as if he makes City drop points, either through a win or a draw. This could put Liverpool in an advantageous position. Who will then just need to beat Wolves in order to win the League title. This will also take the Reds’ closer to the unprecedented ‘quadruple’.

So Captain fantastic can possibly win his former team an unprecedented ‘quadruple’. Wow, what an opportunity to give back to the club and the supporters.

Jordan Henderson Speaks

Henderson reviewed the situation at the top of the table after the victory at St Mary’s, urging a focus on the work at hand while hoping for “favour” elsewhere.

He said:

That was the aim, to take it right to the end,

[There were] a lot of changes in the team but the lads were brilliant, kept it going right to the end and we got our reward.

He added:

We’ll concentrate on what we’ve got to do and hopefully Stevie and Villa will do us a favor at City.

Liverpool has done whatever was possible and now their league hopes are in hands of their former players. The Reds’ manager has still insisted the fans enjoy the ride and even if they lose appreciate the boys for the work they have done throughout the year.
