Arne Slot agrees with bold Premier League claims mad by Pep Guardiola

Arne Slot has come out swinging in defense of both Liverpool and the Premier League’s rising standards clams by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

The Reds boss joined forces with Pep Guardiola’s recent comments about the league’s increasing difficulty — while also brushing off criticism from Michael Owen over Liverpool’s title pursuit.

The story began after Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 win over Everton, when Owen claimed that only lifting the league trophy would make the season worth it.

That didn’t sit well with captain Virgil van Dijk, who fired back, saying the title would be “very, very special.” Now, Slot has added his voice — and he’s not holding back.

Slot reminded everyone of the club’s history, pointing out how rare it has been for Liverpool to win the title in recent decades.

“Michael (Owen) played for us, didn’t he? So he is aware of the fact that in 35 years we won the league once?” he said.

“If you can win the league with this club then, phew, nothing else matters.” Slot agreed with Van Dijk’s take and brushed off the idea that a league title wouldn’t be enough.

On what points Arne Slot agrees with Pep Guardiola?

Slot didn’t stop there. He echoed Guardiola’s recent thoughts on how strong the Premier League has become.

“I think the league is better than it ever was,” Slot said. “Even Pep said there will not be a team again as long as he lives that gets more than 100 points and wins the league four times in a row.”

He praised how competitive the league has become. “So many more teams have so many more good players,” he added. “Even clubs fighting relegation have players who could play for the top sides.”

Slot highlighted that Liverpool’s 73 points from 30 games, with just one loss, was no fluke. In his view, this season isn’t weak — it’s fierce.

Liverpool fans may not be seeing Klopp’s 97-point Reds, but Slot’s side is quietly storming ahead — and kicking aside the doubters.
