RB Salzburg striker Karim Konate has revealed his love for Liverpool as he discussed where he may like to play later in his career.
The 19-year-old spoke about his career and revealed that he would love to play for Liverpool. The Ivory Coast international is currently playing in Austria for Salzburg. He joined the Red Bull team for a €3.5m deal from ASEC Mimosas in July last year.
However, he was loaned out immediately to FC Liefering in the second division of Austrian football. It was during his loan period that the 19-year-old impressed the most. In his 17 appearances, he scored 14 goals and provided 3 assists. This means that the Ivorian has 17 contributions in 17 games, which is impressive in any league.
Moreover, these impressive numbers saw him being recalled to Salzburg at the end of December. He was given a chance to be in the first team and has also bagged a goal in four games for the club.
The young striker is one to be kept an eye on but it would be too soon to speak of a big-money move to other European clubs.
However, it would not be a surprise if Salzburg looks to sell him with the right offer as we know that the Austrian club is known to be a breeding ground for strikers in recent years.
Karim Konate: Could he end up at Liverpool?
Certainly, the young striker would not be thinking of a move to any other club any time soon. But, he would surely be one to keep our eyes on.
While speaking, he admitted to being an admirer of Liverpool.
“Lyon is my flagship club. I also like Liverpool and Barça, but Lyon remains the first of the first. Lyon is the heart; it does not move. The blood is Red and Blue.
I chose Salzburg. It was the best choice given their past with African players, and in order to develop myself.
They (the Salzburg leaders) came to Abidjan and then invited me to visit the facilities, I thought this was the club for me.”
