Liverpool are back in the UEFA Youth League, with their U19 squad kicking off their campaign against AC Milan this afternoon as Trey Nyoni leads the Reds.
As the senior team prepares for their Champions League clash at the San Siro, Liverpool’s youngsters are eager to make their mark at the Centro Sportivo Vismara.
Trey Nyoni will captain the side, with a mix of exciting talent including new signings Rio Ngumoha and Alvin Ayman, both 16, making their mark on the European stage.
Nyoni, along with players like Kornel Misciur and Trent Kone-Doherty, will lead the charge against Milan, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Jarell Quansah, who all gained valuable experience in this competition.

Liverpool’s U19 coach Barry Lewtas is thrilled to have the team back in the tournament. “It’s a great opportunity for the players to test their wits against top academy sides across Europe,” Lewtas said.
With a revamped format in place, the Reds will face six different opponents this season, offering plenty of variety and challenges for the young squad.
Despite missing star striker Jayden Danns through injury, Lewtas remains optimistic about the squad’s potential.
“It’s an exciting stepping stone for the players,” he added, emphasizing how this competition has helped shape future first-team stars.
With a mix of seasoned youth players and new faces, Liverpool’s U19s are ready to face the Italian giants. While there’s no immediate pressure, the Reds are keen to start strong and continue their impressive Youth League record.
