Bundesliga forward targets Premier League move in 2025 – Are Liverpool the one to sign him?
Omar Marmoush, a striker for Eintracht Frankfurt, is planning to join a Premier League team in 2025.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, and West Ham have already expressed interest in the 25-year-old, who enjoyed an impressive season at Frankfurt where he scored 17 goals in 43 games and is no doubt on the radar of some of the Premier League’s most elite teams.
Nottingham Forest tried to sign him with a bid of £20 million during the summer transfer window, though that transaction fell through. Frankfurt was unwilling to let go of their valued asset at that price and Forest was unable to complete that transaction, thus Marmoush is keen to move to England next year.
According to official Bundesliga facebook page, he is inspired to play in the Premier League in part because of his close friend Mohamed Salah, and has a lot of respect for him.
Marmoush has already spoken about Salah’s learning experience, saying, “I’m learning everything from Mohamed Salah on and off the pitch. It’s a great honour to play alongside one of the best players in the world.
“I always learn from him how to become a professional, both on and off the field. He’s like a big brother to me and the other young players. He talks to us about sleep, work ethic – everything. I constantly seek his advice and benefit from his vast experience in matches. Playing alongside him is a fantastic feeling.”
The Egyptian international does not have a release clause in his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, but a fee of around £40 million is expected to convince Frankfurt to sell Marmoush. This substantial asking price reflects his impressive performances and the growing interest from English clubs.
Crystal Palace and West Ham show strong interest in Frankfurt’s striker Omar Marmoush
West Ham and Crystal Palace seem to be the frontrunners among the possible suitors. Palace is particularly interested due to ongoing uncertainties regarding the future of Jean-Philippe Mateta. With Oliver Glasner, who previously managed Marmoush at Frankfurt, now the manager of the Eagles, a reunion could be on the cards.
West Ham is also keeping an eye on Marmoush as a future replacement for either Danny Ings or Michail Antonio, both of whom will be out of contract at the end of the current season.
Liverpool and Arsenal, who are said to be keen on signing Marmoush, are not on the list for now. Instead, the club is focusing on other compartments, primarily midfield, and Liverpool was believed to need strengthening in this department, while Arsenal was also said to be looking for an alternative, though, it is said that the current target now is Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting Lisbon.
Liverpool’s best African players in the Premier League era
10. El-Hadji Diouf
He made headlines with his impressive performances for Senegal at the 2002 World Cup. That summer, Liverpool paid £10 million to secure his services. Diouf scored six goals in his first year at Anfield and was a key player in the 2003 League Cup final win over Manchester United. However, his form dipped significantly in the following season, leading to his transfer to Bolton.
9. Salif Diao
He joined Liverpool with Diouf and had been outstanding for Senegal in their fine campaign during the 2002 World Cup. He was talked about much on grounds of his talent but did little to provide an adequate replica of his services for Senegal at Anfield. He played only 61 games before being sold to Stoke City in 2007.
8. Rigobert Song
Rigobert Song signed for Liverpool in January of 1999 after impressive performances with Cameroon in the World Cup that same year. Song played two seasons, but could not establish a guaranteed position in the team.
7. Victor Moses
Moses was signed on a one-year loan deal by Liverpool in June 2013, one of a trio signed on deadline day from Chelsea. Moses scored two goals from 22 outings, providing a useful utility player for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
6. Naby Keita
Liverpool broke their transfer record to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig for £52.75 million in the summer of 2018. He was not too effective, but he always provided glimpses of his ability.
5. Mohamed Sissoko
Sissoko, who was recruited by Liverpool in the summer of 2005, was reunited with his former Valencia coach Rafa Benitez. Mohamed Sissoko became a valuable asset to Liverpool in the first year of his stay there where the club accomplished the UEFA Super Cup and FA Cup. He played 87 matches until he left to Juventus for the rest of the season in January 2008.
4. Kolo Toure
Kolo Toure joined Liverpool on a free transfer in 2013. He was a free agent after serving out his contract with Manchester City. Toure quickly became a fan favorite, playing a key role in Liverpool’s near-title-winning campaign in 2013/14. His leadership and defensive solidity were crucial during his three years at Anfield.
3. Joel Matip
Joel Matip was one of the first few signings made by Jurgen Klopp in 2016, coming to Liverpool on a free transfer. In the eight years that he played for the Reds, Joel Matip had 201 appearances and played an important role for Liverpool in their victory in the 2018/19 Champions League. His excellence in defense and timely alternation with Virgil van Dijk is what helped the team become champions.
2. Sadio Mane
Mane was signed in from Southampton in a £34 million deal in the summer of 2016. Mane had an extremely successful spell at Liverpool, scoring 120 goals in 269 games for the team. His contributions were pivotal in Liverpool winning the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
1. Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah has been with Liverpool since 2017, a year after Mane joined, and the Egyptian player was quickly elevated to playing among Liverpool’s all-time greats. He has had 214 goals in 353 appearances. His incredible goal-scoring record and contribution to the team cemented his place as one of the greatest Merseysiders ever.
These African stars have played crucial roles in Liverpool’s success over the years, each leaving their unique legacy at the club.
