The transfer window came to an end on Friday, and Liverpool had a fairly quiet window with just two incomings. However, a few players have left Anfield this summer.

Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili are the two signings Liverpool made this summer. The Reds send Mamardashvili on loan at Valencia for the rest of the season, which makes Chiesa the only new signing for Slot to use.

Liverpool beat Barcelona for the transfer of Federico Chiesa

Chiesa was told by Juventus that he was not part of Thiago Motta’s plans and Chiesa with a year left in his contract had to look for a new club.

Liverpool signed Federico Chiesa from Juventus for £12.5m including add-ons. However, Liverpool were not the only club showing interest in the transfer. Barcelona were also keen on the Italian’s signature.

Barcelona were in advanced talks to sign Chiesa as Diario Sport reported. Registering Chiesa was the issue and Barcelona could not make room for Chiesa. Barcelona offered £8.5m in over five years to Juventus for the winger, Liverpool offered more with a bid of £10m.

Nat Philips reveals reason behind the deadline day move

Nat Philips left Liverpool on a loan deal to Derby County in a deadline-day transfer. Philips was looking for a move away all summer as he was not part of Arne Slot’s plans.

Philips explaining the reason behind the transfer: “There are plenty of reasons. It’s a huge historical club. The fact that they’re back up into the Championship this year after a good season last year, it’s an exciting time for the club.”

“They’ve got great facilities, a great stadium, good fan base and I’m sure they’ll be looking forward to hopefully a positive season in the Championship. Like I said earlier, the conversation with Paul Warne kind of solidified everything for me.”
