According to Fabrizio Romano the Liverpool midfield duo Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are expected to leave Jurgen Klopp’s side for free in the summer transfer window.

The midfield duo are both out of contract at the end of the season and an extension to their deals is not expected as of now.

Romano told GiveMeSport

“As of today, the expectations is for Naby Keita to leave on a free and that’s the same for Oxlade-Chamberlain as well.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who earns £125K-per-week according to Salary Sport, has struggled for regular game time over the past few seasons with the Reds, having played in just 19% of available Premier League minutes this time around, as per Transfermarkt.

Meanwhile, Keita has failed to have the impact expected upon his signing at Anfield since his arrival in July 2018. The £130k-per-week earner maker had 125 appearances in four and a half years and scored 11 times while providing seven assists for the English side.

What’s next?

According to the Daily Mail, OX is facing a dilemma over whether he should leave Anfield this month or wait until he becomes a free agent in the summer. Daily Mail also suggests that there are several top-tier clubs that are lining up to sign the Englishman.

Meanwhile, Calciomercatoweb has reported that the Merseyside giants are preparing to offer up Keita in a swap deal with Inter Milan for the services of Croatia midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

The Reds need players in the middle of the park. With the duo both likely to leave the club by the end of the season, the English giants will be able to chase top names in the transfer market.

Jude Bellingham, Enzo Fernandez, and Mathus Nunes are some of the names that are shortlisted by the English giants.
