Ryan Reynolds, co-owner of Wrexham, has humorously urged Mohamed Salah to consider a transfer to the Red Dragons as the Liverpool star’s contract is nearing its expiry date.
Salah is now entering the final year of his deal with Liverpool. As a result, speculations regarding his future is intensifying.
Despite his apparent commitment to the Reds for the current season, his future at the club is hanging in balance.
Reports are linking him to a move to Saudi Pro League. Now, amidst the commotion Reynolds took the opportunity to make a playful plea to the Egyptian international to join Wrexham.
His Hollywood colleague Hugh Jackman had no shortage of words in praising the 32-year-old either.
Ryan Reynolds Teases Salah for a Wrexham Move
While promoting their upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine, the duo was asked which Premier League footballer they would like to be. Jackman responded:
“Mo Salah. I mean to be even in the same sentence as you is incredibly cool.”
The Australian then read off a prepared card:
“Much like Salah, Jackman is renowned for his professionalism and dedication to his craft, delivering world class performances time and time again.
Jackman has enjoyed a long and successful career in Hollywood with Salah also achieving sustained excellence over many years in the Premier League.
Both are admired for their work ethic, consistency and longevity.”
Reynolds jumped in, jokingly saying,
“I feel Salah is getting a short shrift here. I feel like we could probably expound a bit more on his accomplishments. No, no, carry on with your vanity project.”
Jackman later added:
“I went to see you, while we were filming, play against Crystal Palace and I think you’re awesome and amazing and please, please, please respond to my DM’s.”
Reynolds then extended a direct invitation:
“Ryan Reynolds, co chairman, Wrexham AFC. Mo you would be warmly embraced at the Racecourse Ground in North Wales.”
Jackman added:
“You wouldn’t get a full 90 minutes but probably like 20 minutes every game.”
To which Reynolds cheekily replied:
“All we need is five. Think about it.”
Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has been instrumental in the team’s success.
He won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup titles with Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Wrexham will continue their North American pre-season tour with a match against Chelsea and a game against Major League Soccer’s Vancouver Whitecaps.
Liverpool on the other hand, are set for a friendly against Real Betis this weekend.
