Liverpool will let Ben Davies leave Anfield

Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool are negotiating a deal for Ben Davies to depart Anfield.

The Daily Mail claims as much. The two clubs are allegedly “continuing talks” about a deal for the defender to depart Liverpool this summer, according to their claims.

Because a transfer seems likely, Davies was left off the Liverpool team for their preseason trip to Asia.

At this time, it is unclear whether the 26-year-deal old’s would be a loan arrangement or permanent.

All parties should hope that Blackburn’s decision to pursue Davies will result in the provision of a long-term residence for him.

Without a sure, the centre-back’s Liverpool career is among the oddest we’ve seen in a while. Despite supposedly earning around £60k per week (Spotrac), he needs to restart his profession.

Ben Davies’ strange Liverpool career

Few would blame him for turning his attention to Liverpool in January 2020. However, he would have been better off leaving Preston North End and moving more lateral.

He has only ever worn a Liverpool jersey once since joining The Reds. As it occurred in a preseason friendly in August of last year, the appearance will also not officially count.

To be fair, a lot of stuff might be the result of trauma. He and fellow newcomer Ozan Kabak were the only senior centre-backs available when they joined Liverpool.

But it soon became clear that Davies wasn’t physically ready. If he had been, he most likely would have played in games to establish himself on the team. He was instead regarded as not quite physically prepared to play.

Nat Phillips received his opportunity as a result, and he never looked back. Soon after Davies spent some time on the treatment table, Rhys Williams followed.

Davies must go this summer because if he continues at Liverpool, he won’t be considered at all. It was said that he looked forward to a future at Anfield. But after this weird career hiatus, he needs to get moving again at the age of almost twenty-seven.

Last year’s loan at Sheffield United didn’t exactly work out as planned; hopefully, Blackburn can provide him with a better opportunity.
