By now, I think everyone remembers exactly what happened in the match between Liverpool and Brentford. Now, reports are coming in that Real Madrid and Barcelona are fighting for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Defender recently had a frustrated reaction after he got unexpectedly subbed by the new LFC Boss. However, Arne Slot remained absolutely unfazed at his reaction and claimed that it was necessary.
Real Madrid and Barcelona fight over Trent Alexander-Arnold
LFC is right now at the end of their summer transfer window for this ongoing season. In the meantime, a lot of senior stars have their contracts expiring.
Reportedly, Trent Alexander-Arnold will become a free agent by the end of this season, and Barcelona is fighting with Real Madrid over this. Multiple outlets suggest that they are fighting to gain the LFC star’s signature. But, there has been no official confirmation about this from any of their camps till now.
The 25-year-old English Defender recently had a passive-aggressive meltdown after Slot subbed him in the 72nd minute. Reports in Spain indicate that Trent did not like this decision, hence Real Madrid or Barcelona expects that he will not renew his contract. If Madrid gets Trent, he will fit into the full-back style; Barça wants him as a right-back.
Keith Wyness, former CEO of Everton, commented on this situation on Football Insider. According to him, there’s a valid reason why Real Madrid and Barcelona are fighting for Trent. However, he suggests that we must wait for an official declaration.
“All the signs, the rumours and the body language have suggested this could be the end for Trent at Liverpool. But it’s a difficult one. Something would have happened by now if it was going to go through this summer. I can understand the links with Real Madrid. But here we are with a day to go and nothing’s happened.”
