With Kane and Son scoring for Spurs, Jota, and Robertson scoring for the Reds. It was a very interesting match as both the teams gave out their best. Liverpool felt the absence of Virgil Van Dijk and Fabinho as Spurs were able to break the defence time and time again.

Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur : Player ratings

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Alisson (GK) – 7/10

Alisson was so animated and he had to involve a lot, He had some nervy moments in the game. There was nothing he can do about the first goal. He was brilliant in one on one situations against Son and Kane before he misjudges and leaves son to score an equalizer in an empty net. A brilliant fingertip save to deny Dele Ali. Apart from that one mistake, Allison was really brilliant against the Spurs.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) – 7/10

A really good start for Trent with two quality deliveries and a left-footed shot which was saved by Lloris in the near post. He was really a threat in the attacking half, with beautiful distribution and in creating chances. but when it comes to defending spurs had one step ahead of him. He couldn’t match them in their counters. Get’s the Assist for the second goal as both the wingbacks were involved, Trent assisting Robertson.

Joel Matip (CB) – 7/10

With Virgil not on the field, the pressure was on Matip. He was good in defending made some important blocks but struggled at times when the spurs were countering. A beautiful run from him which should have ended in a Goal. nice passing throughout the game.

Ibrahima Konate (CB) – 8/10

Konate was brilliant against spurs he made two vital blocks one at the beginning and one at the end. He also found it difficult to contain spurs but he had the pace to recover and fall back to defend. A good game for Konate who is getting more time on the pitch whenever the main duo is not available.

Andy Robertson (RB) – 7/10

What a night for the Scottish skipper, and he went through a lot of emotions. He was tackled by Kane. A beautiful run and cross to set Jota for the first goal. Robbo was so strong and dominant in the field. His challenge against Emerson Royal had him sent off as the referee showed the red after viewing the monitor.

Midfielder

Tyler Morton (DM) – 6/10

The 19-year-old made his first Premier League debut, in the absence of Jorden Henderson (illness), Thiago, and Fabinho (Covid). He really had a tough start, passing was good but he couldn’t play the no.6 role as spurs were gliding the ball past him. won aerial duels and good blocks. a good game and a great experience for him.

Naby Keita (CM) – 7/10

Good with the ball, nice spread-out play, beautiful turns and runs but failed to back up with a man for defence

James Milner (CM) – 6/10

Milner was not up to the mark with many passes not reaching the target and putting his teammates under pressure, did some beautiful defending in the second half.

Forwards

Mohamed Salah (RW) – 6/10

Salah didn’t get much of the ball, he had a quiet game. nice build-ups, with passes and dribbles but he didn’t get the chance to finish. It would have been nice if the team gives more of the ball to the world’s best player. This ends his 15 consecutive games with a goal or an assist.

Diogo Jota (ST) – 8/10

Had a good day at the office. beautiful equaliser, wonderful goal with his head again. The first time he has scored double-figure goals in the premier league (10). He almost won a penalty, he was very intensive going forward and found those pockets yet again.

Sadio Mane (LW) – 7/10

He was the best player on the pitch during the first half but he became quiet during the second. Good dribbles, passes and crosses.

Subtitues

Roberto Firmino (ST) – 6/10

Comes in at the 60th minute replacing Morton, He didn’t get much of a chance to impact the game.

Kostas Tsimikas (LB)– N/A

After Robertson was sent off, Jurgen Klopp sacrifices Mane and brings in Tsimikas, didn’t get much time but had few chances to cross and one brilliant opportunity which he wasted by delaying it.

Joe Gomez (CB) – N/A

Comes in for Jota during the stoppage time to make sure we don’t lose the game.
