In the Merseyside derby, Liverpool were up against neighbours Everton at Anfield, lets’s have a look at the player ratings.

Liverpool registered an ugly 2-0 win over Frank Lampard’s Everton to close the Man City’s lead to one point in the league table.

Goalkeepers & Defenders

Alisson Becker (GK) – 7/10

A comfortable afternoon for the Brazilian as the Toffees hardly threatened. But after the break, Alisson got away with a dodgy punched clearance.

Moreover, the goalie gets an extra point for mocking Jordan Pickford’s time-wasting tactics.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) – 7/10

Not his usual best day at the office. The England international was unable to find pinpoint passes, as he does.

The Right back was caught up with fellow scouser Anthony Gordon, as the Evertonian caused him issues throughout.

But it was an improved performance in the second half.

Joel Matip (CB) – 7/10

The defender retained his place at the heart of the defense. Defensively he produced a neat performance but the away side didn’t give him the time and space to roam in the midfield like usually does.

Virgil van Dijk (CB) – 8/10

The Dutchman was effortless again at the heart of the defense. He kept Richarlison quiet throughout the game and made sure there is no defensive lapse and kept things tight and composed.

Dealt with aerial threats superbly.

Andrew Robertson (LB) – 8/10

After his brilliant show against Manchester United in the midweek, it was another big performance for the Scotsman.

In the first half, he was not finding the rhythm as he would have liked but after the break, he was glaring. Scored the opening goal and he celebrated widely. Just love this guy.

Midfielders

Fabinho (CDM) – 7/10

The Brazilian made sure the team don’t drop the intensity. Pretty dominant in the midfield but could have produced a bit more quality on the ball to unlock the bus parked by Everton.

He was involved in the rusty battles with Everton players too often.

But like others, he was better in the second half.

Naby Keita (CM)- 6/10

Keita started ahead of captain Jordan Henderson. There were one or two moments of promise when he pushed forward but was often slack in possession.

The Guinean was better after the break but was subbed off later.

Thiago Alcantara (CM)- 7/10

Not his best performance, he was unplayable in recent games but his quality was not right there as it was expected from him. Even though his range of distribution was again top notch but couldn’t open a stubborn Everton defense.

Meanwhile, his off-the-ball contribution was of usual standards. We all can watch this guy play the whole day.

Forwards

Mohamed Salah (RW) – 7/10

The Egyptian king delivered the much-needed assist when mattered the most. Could have registered a goal but somehow didn’t happen.

Perhaps it’s us who always demand a lot from Salah and forget the player is a human. Pretty sure he will score in the next one.

Diogo Jota (LW) – 6/10

Jota started ahead of Luis Diaz but he failed to offer something concrete. Not a good afternoon for the Portuguese man but his movement was a sure threat in the game.

Sadio Mane (ST) – 5/10

Given his recent good run in the centre of the attack, Klopp again preferred him in the crunch game as Number 9.

But wasn’t effective and was later subbed off in the second half.

Could have been sent off for foolishly raising hands to Mason Holgate’s face. Not his day

Substitutes

Luis Diaz – 7/10

His unbelievable first touch image and video is going crazy on social media. Impressive yet again when came on.

What a signing for Liverpool.

Divock Origi (ST) – 8/10

The Anfield’s favourite son scored another goal against his favourite opponent. His introduction brought immediate effect on the pitch.

The super-sub yet again shows why he is considered a legend by the Liverpool fans. This season he has more goals than he’s had starts.

Jordan Henderson (CM)- 7/10

The captain played an important role in Liverpool’s second goal. Later, got into a scrap with Richarlison.
