Jurgen Klopp pre-match Press Conference: Liverpool vs Wolves

Liverpool have enjoyed a scintillating season so far, already bagged the domestic cup double. Moreover, the Champions League final in Paris awaits as Liverpool faces Real Madrid.

Credit to the team and what Klopp describes as “mentality monsters” for taking the Quadruple hunt into the wire. The dream of what is described as impossible is still alive after Liverpool registered a 2-1 victory over Southampton midweek.

But now on the final day, title fate is out of their hands. The expectancy for Liverpool on Sunday will be one of disappointment, with the title very much in Man City’s hands.

Guardiola’s side are anticipated to beat Aston Villa which will clinch their fourth Premier League crown in five years.

But Liverpool fans all over the world expect complete drama on the final day, as strange things can happen. As there is a certain degree of fatefulness about the prospect of Gerrard.

The Liverpool legend who won everything with Liverpool except for the Premier League title can be the unlikely hero for the Reds on Sunday.

However, Liverpool does have one eye at the final in Paris. The Reds could be forgiven for prioritizing next Saturday’s Champions League final in Paris. The game at Paris will be number 63 of a relentless and exhausting season.

But still, Liverpool are clear favourites to come out top in the weekend against Wolves at Anfield.

Meanwhile, the visitor Wolves’ side have a poor record at Anfield, losing 17 of their last 19 league games. Also, Bruno Lage’s men are currently in the worst run of form this season. Lage’s men are winless in the last six games and picking up just two points from a possible 18.

But the away side sits comfortably at eight positions and will guarantee a top-half finish for the third time in four seasons since being promoted.

Klopp expects his team to put up a show in front of the home crowd and keep their unlikely title hopes alive. Moreover, a win against the Wolves will mean Klopp’s side were unbeaten at Anfield in the English Topflight throughout the season.

Team News

Liverpool does have injury concerns even though Klopp has suggested that his squad should be in good shape for this match.

Recently, Joe Gomez joined the injury list alongside Fabinho, Salah, and Van Dijk. Gomez’s injury seems to be less serious. The defender is expected to undergo tests in the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, the other three could feature on the bench as Klopp admitted that he would like all of the players to play in this game “for rhythm reasons” ahead of the Champions League final.

Players such as Trent Alexander Arnold, Andrew Robertson, Thiago Alcantara, Luis Diaz, and Sadio Mane are likely to return to the starting lineup.

Furthermore, Divock Origi will be given a fitting Anfield farewell at some stage of the game. The Belgian confirmed he is leaving Liverpool after his contract expires at end of the season.

Liverpool’s possible starting lineup:

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Konate, Robertson; Keita, Henderson, Thiago; Diaz, Mane, Jota
