Liverpool will travel to East Midlands to face Leicester City in a Premier League encounter. The game will be the second meeting between both sides in a span of one week.

The Reds are currently in the second position in the league standings. Klopp’s men are six points adrift of leaders, Man City having played a game fewer than the Citizens.

The busy festive season fixtures are a real test for Premier League teams which most clubs always moan about. But these thick and hectic fixtures do take place even if the English clubs are displeased.

With the previous game against Leeds United getting postponed due to the Covid19 outbreak, Liverpool will now put their focus on a trip to Leicester. Meanwhile, The Foxes got thrashed at Etihad 6-3 on Boxing day in their last game.

Previously, when these two sides met a few days back in the EFL Cup tie, which saw Liverpool march over Leicester to win it on penalties. The game also marked its name in the club’s iconic comeback games, having trailed 3-1 at halftime.

Liverpool have won three of their last four away leagues games against Leicester after losing this exact fixture last season.

Leicester City have recorded fine results in final league games of the year in the last 10 calendar years with five wins, three draws and lost only twice. But their two defeats have been against the mighty Reds.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are yet to lose in their final league game of the year in the last seven calendar years.

Looking into Leicester’s record in their last eight games in all competitions, they have lost four, drawn one and won thrice. But interestingly, all four losses and the draw have been on the roads.

The Foxes have been in good shape at the King Power Stadium, where they have scored at least three goals in the last three home games.

But having scored at least two goals in 11 of their last 12 Premier League games away from home, Liverpool will be looking to continue their same feat and end the year on high notes.

Divock Origi, Nat Phillips, Adrian, and Harvey Elliott will continue to remain sidelined for the East Midlands trip. Meanwhile, Andy Robertson will be out for the game with suspension for this game plus the fixture with Chelsea in the New Year.

On the other hand, Virgil Van Dijk, Curtis Jones, and Fabinho are back in training from Covid19. Moreover, after Christmas eve Thiago has also joined the team training.
