Liverpool have a huge midfield crisis at their hand at the start of their new season which could crush their UCL dream.
As the Reds look back on their 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, Liverpool experienced their first setback under new manager Arne Slot.
Despite winning all of their first three Premier League games the Reds performance against Forest should have served as a wake-up call.
Liverpool midfield crisis could cost them UCL
Despite the loss and the huge concern in the midfield at Anfield, the Reds are not losing hope.
Liverpool should try and improve as the season goes on, Arne Slot will drill his tactical adjustments and plans for the Reds which will take time to settle.
Liverpool doesn’t have much time to reflect on the loss because their Champions League campaign kicks off this week against AC Milan.
Football pundit Gordon Strachan expressed concerns about the midfield position,
“Liverpool are a good team, but is this Liverpool team as good as the team that won the Champions League a few years ago? I don’t think they are. The midfield isn’t nearly as strong as the one from that team.”
Liverpool will have a huge advantage in crucial games because of Anfield’s electric atmosphere, European team will struggle to cope.
Liverpool still have high expectations for this season and they plan to compete well in both the Premier League and the Champions League despite the setback they suffered over the weekend.
Will Arne Slot be able to pull a rabbit out of the hat this European week?
