Liverpool are considering a $71 million deal for Takefusa Kubo as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, amid uncertainty over the latter’s future.
Liverpool Eyeing Kubo
Liverpool are reportedly considering a record-breaking deal for Japanese international Takefusa Kubo amidst the long-term uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future at the club.
Salah, who has been pivotal since his arrival in 2017, has been linked with a move away from Anfield following Jurgen Klopp’s departure last season.
To address this potential void, Liverpool is eyeing Kubo, the Real Sociedad winger known as the ‘Japanese Messi.‘ Like Salah, Kubo is a left-footed right winger and is seen as an ideal replacement.
A Huge Offer
According to Japanese outlet Sponichi Annex, Liverpool are preparing an offer of around $71 million (£55 million/€65 million) to secure the 23-year-old Kubo, along with a significant annual salary exceeding $16.1 million (£12.5 million/€14.8 million).
Kubo, who was signed by Real Madrid from FC Tokyo at 18 and later moved to Real Sociedad, has demonstrated his potential through impressive performances in La Liga.
His journey included fruitful loan spells at Mallorca, Villareal, and Getafe before establishing himself at Real Sociedad, where he won the Player of the Season award in his first campaign.
The Japanese Winger
With 16 goals and 14 assists in 85 appearances for Real Sociedad, Kubo has been instrumental in the team’s return to the Champions League.
His attributes as a fast, skilful right winger with exceptional vision and intelligence on the pitch have earned him praise and recognition.
Liverpool, already boasting attacking talents like Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota, see Kubo as a unique addition who can bring a different dimension to their forward line, especially as they prepare for the potential departure of Salah in the upcoming Premier League season.
