Beck’s impressive stint at Dundee also caught the eye of top Scottish clubs Celtic and Rangers, with Celtic particularly close to signing him.
Brendan Rodgers, Celtic’s manager, believed he had secured the young defender’s services until Jurgen Klopp recalled Beck to Liverpool in January.
Beck even played in a league win over Bournemouth, which meant he could not complete his move to Celtic, leaving Dundee as the only realistic option for regular game time at that point.
