Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas has announced he’s leaving in a recent video. But did he actually mean it?
Tsimikas was one of the first players to turn up for Pre-season under Arne Slot. He is an influential character in the squad even though he doesn’t get much playing time.
Kostas Tsimikas Jokingly Announces He’s Leaving The Club
It was when Adrian who left Liverpool to join Real Betis visited Liverpool’s camp in Pittsburgh. He gifted Salah and Tsimikas Real Betis jerseys with their name and number on the back.
It was at this time when Tsimikas jokingly announced to his teammates “I’m leaving”.
Heading into the transfer window there were speculations of Tsimikas leaving Liverpool this summer but there were concrete reports.
With Robertson being ruled out of all three pre-season matches and Joe Gomez not back yet, Tsimikas will have to be starting left-back during pre-season matches.
He was the 3rd choice left-back last season under Jurgen Klopp with Andy Robertson and Joe Gomez preferred ahead of him. Even when Robertson was injured, Klopp preferred to play Joe Gomez ahead of Tsimikas.
So we cannot completely rule out a Kostas Tsimikas exit this summer. If he gets a decent offer from another club he might be motivated to leave due to the very less playing time he gets at Liverpool.
Arne Slot would definitely assess his performance in pre-season before making any decision on his transfer.
