Liverpool target PSV midfielder Joey Veerman to address No.6 issues, valuing his build-up skills and potential fit under Arne Slot’s system amid Wataru Endo sales talk.

Veerman Targeted By Liverpool

Liverpool are reportedly targeting PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joey Veerman to address their No.6 position issues.

Manager Arne Slot is looking for a player who can excel in the build-up phase. And Veerman, who had 21 goal involvements last season, fits the bill.

The 25-year-old, who has been with PSV since 2022, is under consideration by Liverpool’s recruitment team, especially since his contract with PSV runs until 2026, making him an ‘opportunistic’ transfer.

A Strong Player In The Middle Of The Park

Veerman has a strong connection with some of Liverpool’s current squad, including Dutch internationals Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch.

While Liverpool have been using Alexis Mac Allister in a similar role, there’s a belief that he might be better suited further up the pitch.

Wataru Endo has also been a key player for Liverpool as a defensive midfielder, but with ongoing interest from the Bundesliga and a recent €14 million bid from Marseille, his future remains uncertain.

Other midfield options include Stefan Bajcetic, who is recovering from a long-term injury, Curtis Jones, and Tyler Morton, who had a successful loan spell at Hull City and is attracting interest from RB Leipzig.

Reds’ Key Target: Veerman To Liverpool?

PSV’s interest in Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg adds another layer to potential transfer dealings.

While their initial approach was rejected, it indicates ongoing negotiations and potential player exchanges between the two clubs.

This interest in Veerman comes as Liverpool look to bolster their midfield options and build a stronger squad for the upcoming Premier League season under the new management of Arne Slot.
