Liverpool are looking to bring their youngster Rhys Williams back in January. Recently, the Reds sat down for a talk with Swansea City to discuss their youngster’s situation. Swans believe that the teenager will spend the next five weeks reclaiming his place in starting eleven.

Williams made a switch to the Championship side on a long season loan to gain some minutes on the pitch. But, life at Swansea has been difficult for the center back. The Preston born defender hardly played for Russell Martin’s side.

Now the Reds are worried about Rhys Williams’ development as a player. A while back they sent out their loan manager to Swansea to discuss his future. Martin gave his verdict on the situation:

He’s found it really hard to come back in because the boys have played so well, and he understands that. All he can do now is focus on being present every day, training as well as he can and supporting his team mates then wait for his opportunity.

Martins was claiming that Williams was not being featured in the games because he had a strained groin.

How are Liverpool going to save Rhys Williams ?

Ever since the recent comments made by Martins, Williams isn’t getting enough chances upfront. The 20-year-old, however, is still optimistic about his situation. Martin further explained his conversation with Rhys saying

Rhys understands that and I’m honest with the guys. We had another conversation last week about his position, and I think he understands, whatever happens, he’ll go back to Liverpool better for this.

Now that Williams has slid down the hierarchy pyramid, Liverpool will want to see him on matchdays. Williams is at least two short walks away from getting on the team list with Ben Cabango’s reintroduction to the team on Saturday.

Furthermore, Kyle Naughton and Ryan Manning’s form, unusual in the positions they play, isn’t supporting his case.

Unless, of course, injuries do lose their grip. Williams is unlikely to play in many only if all the games leading up to the new year. His future doesn’t seems bright for him if he stays at the Swans after January. Liverpool will not want their young starlet sitting out games.

Until Liverpool finds a much suitable option for the youngster, a recall at Anfield is on the cards.
