After manager Arne Slot arrived Liverpool may decide to focus more on Joshua Kimmich than Teun Koopmeiners in their transfer window in an effort to strengthen their midfield.
Following the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, the Reds made significant midfield investments last year with the additions of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo.
They were leading the competition for Koopmeiners but growing interest from Juventus has forced them to look at other options. Despite this, they still lack depth at the base of midfield.
The Required Depth At The Middle
Liverpool are reportedly very interested in Joshua Kimmich who is presently competing for Germany at Euro 2024.
TuttoJuve reports that Kimmich is regarded as a significant addition who could provide Liverpool’s midfield balance in addition to giving Trent Alexander-Arnold another option at right-back.
Several elite teams including Barcelona and Manchester City have expressed interest in signing Kimmich should he leave Bayern Munich however given his versatility and elite status Liverpool may give him priority over Koopmeiners.
Interest All Over Europe
With a year remaining on his deal Kimmich is rumored to have shortlisted Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Arsenal as clubs he would be open to joining.
His value is highlighted by his current involvement with Germany at Euro 2024 and his outstanding performance in their most recent victory over Denmark.
As Liverpool look to bolster their roster for the upcoming campaign Kimmich is an appealing option given the chance to sign him this summer at a lower cost.
