Not much time has passed since Jurgen Klopp has left his precious position of the head coach. Now, Richard Hughes is on his way to becoming the new sporting director of Liverpool. After leaving a successful impression behind, will Hughes be able to leave his mark here? We will be there to witness it.
Richard Hughes Is Coming To Liverpool
The arrival of Arne Slot has changed the direction of Liverpool’s future for sure. From the day the Dutchman has come to Anfield, he has been making efforts to improve the team.
Now, as per reports, Liverpool is going to appoint Richard Hughes as their new sporting director. This is a great move for Hughes, probably the biggest one of his career.
Hughes was once a prominent name in the field of Scottish Football. The man used to be a dominant midfielder, way before he became a football executive mastermind.
The 45-year-old made 185 appearances for Bournemouth, while he was playing for the club. Before Liverpool appointed him as their new sporting director, Richard Hughes was AFC Bournemouth’s Technical Director.
Slot is looking forward to putting efforts into his transfer saga, starting this summer. With Richard Hughes as one of the pivotal brains in Liverpool, the team can leave some mark behind.
Looking at his previous records, Hughes might be instrumental in transfers; the man has good potential to attract new talents to Anfield.
Although he respects Jose Mourinho, Hughes does not prefer his style. He has previously commented on Chelsea and their way of playing their leagues.
Way before coming to lead the Reds, we also saw Richard Hughes quoting the Barca legend Xavi.
“A quote from Xavi from a few years ago has always stuck with me and he said: ‘There has to be something bigger than winning or losing because, sometimes in a football match, the result can be an imposter, there has to be a legacy’. The team’s people will look back on and do already are the ones which play a brand of football which interests millions”
