In a press conference, ahead of Liverpool’s match against Cardiff, Jurgen Klopp talked about a range of topics. Let’s take a look at some of the key takeaways from the press conference:

Klopp confirmed that youngster Harvey Elliot will be back in the squad ahead of the FA cup game against Cardiff City. This will be the 18-year old’s first appearance in around four months.

The youngster sustained a serious ankle injury in the game against Leeds United earlier this season.

Talking about the youngster, Klopp said,

We have to see, we have to see what is right for him. Is it right to start? Is it right to come on?But he will be in the squad definitely for the Cardiff game, and from there we go.

Klopp gives many key updates in the recent Liverpool press confrence

While talking about the January transfer window, Klopp had two interesting things to say. For recent signing Luis Diaz, Klopp believes that it is unrealistic to expect the Colombian to perform from the get go and that it will take him time to have an impact.

He said,

If he would come, step on the pitch and be at his immediate absolute best, that would be really strange. It needs time, of course, to adapt.

He also added in the press conference that Liverpool would continue their hunt for target Fabio Carvalho. In relation to Carvalho, Klopp said,

We are obviously still interested, it would be crazy if not.

Talking about his stars Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Klopp said that he expects them to be back for the game against Leicester City.

Since both have made it into the final of the AFCON, they will miss the Cardiff City game that falls on the same day as the final.

Talking about Salah and Mane, Klopp said,

I think they will be available, but we will see. The one who wins will probably fly back to their home country for their celebration, that’s how it is. I think Tuesday or Wednesday latest the winner will be back, and the other one probably slightly earlier. We will see.

Updating on other players, Klopp said that Thiago, who had a chest infection, would soon return to full team training. Origi, meanwhile, remains out and Naby Keita is back from AFCON fully fit.

He also added that they are looking forward to the FA Cup final and also said they would be hoping to add to it by going to the League Cup final.

Klopp said,

Massive, massive,I cannot say more, we are not the most successful FA Cup team – at least as long as I’m here! So we are quite ambitious.

He also said that he was really “happy” for Nat Phillips and Neco Williams, in regards to their loan moves. According to him both, especially Nat Phillips, deserved regular game time.

That is all from Jurgen Klopp’s recent Liverpool Press Conference ahead of the FA Cup 4th round clash against Cardiff.
