Liverpool Defender Andy Robertson out of Ajax clash due to injury

Andy Robertson injury means he will be out for Liverpool‘s UCL Clash against Ajax midweek.

Due to a potential knee injury, Andy Robertson will miss Liverpool’s Champions League match against Ajax on Tuesday.

On Wednesday night in Italy, Napoli beat Jurgen Klopp’s team 4-1 in the opening match of their European campaign. The Reds’ left-back played the entire game. The Scotland skipper will not participate in the Group A match at Anfield against the Dutch powerhouses due to a problem with what is thought to be his left knee.

Robertson was wearing a knee brace on Sunday at the AXA Training Center in Kirkby. And the ECHO understands that he will miss Tuesday’s match as a result. Kostas Tsimikas will get the chance to fill in for Robertson on the left side of Liverpool’s back four.

Robertson injury adds to the list of already injured players

It adds to Klopp’s list of injured players, including Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, and Caoimhin Kelleher. However, there is at least hope for Fabio Carvalho, who did suffer a dead leg in the Merseyside derby draw with Everton on September 3.

Although Klopp is due to provide an update on the defender’s fitness when he meets with the media on Monday afternoon to preview the game with Ajax. And it is currently unknown how long Robertson is going to be out.

After several of his important players drove up just a few weeks into the new season, Robertson is the latest issue Klopp must deal with. Jones, Konate, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, and they haven’t been together for a minute yet.

Joel Matip began Liverpool’s season-opening game against Fulham on August 6. But he has since dealt with a groin issue that has led him to sit out the last two games. Also, captain Henderson will miss the next few weeks of action due to a muscular issue of his own.

Thiago Alcantara had his first appearance in over a month on Wednesday night in Naples. And Diogo Jota didn’t play again until Goodison Park after reinjuring his hamstring during a preseason workout in Thailand.

Calvin Ramsay, a summer acquisition, has yet to be selected to a matchday roster. While third-choice shot-stopper Adrian has been filling in for goalkeeper Kelleher all season due to an injury.
