Liverpool FC owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), are reportedly in advanced discussions with Netflix, and fans are buzzing with excitement. Could this mean a behind-the-scenes documentary on the historic football club is on the way?
FSG has already teamed up with Netflix for a series on their MLB team, the Boston Red Sox, which will follow their 2024 season. Now, it seems Liverpool could be the next team in FSG’s sports portfolio to get the Netflix treatment.
Netflix and Liverpool FC’s FSG: A Winning Combo?
Linda Pizzuti, the wife of FSG principal owner John Henry, confirmed the ongoing discussions. She shared the news on Instagram, saying, “Netflix X FSG, so many exciting projects…”
If this collaboration goes through, it would mark a significant expansion for FSG, tapping into Netflix’s global audience.
The possible partnership could focus on sports documentaries, much like Netflix’s successful Drive to Survive series, which boosted the popularity of Formula 1, particularly in the United States.
Liverpool fans may be eager for a similar boost in global visibility, especially with FSG’s history of approving the documentary Being: Liverpool back in 2012.
While no concrete details have emerged yet, rumours are circulating about a potential docuseries following Jurgen Klopp’s final years at the club.
Klopp previously turned down the opportunity for a farewell documentary, but with Netflix now in the picture, fans wonder if a deal might finally come to fruition.
As FSG strengthens its influence in digital entertainment, the football world waits eagerly to see what could be next for Liverpool’s global story.
