Liverpool is currently one point behind the current league leaders Chelsea in the Premier league table after a draw in a thrilling encounter with Manchester City.

The Reds went into the game as league leaders and were only able to salvage a point from their home game against the defending Champions. The Reds still remain as the only undefeated team in the league.

Liverpool Vs Manchester city: Player Ratings

Goal Keepers and Defenders

Alisson Becker – 7.5/10

Alisson had a good day at the office. He saved a one on one, and also a perfect tackle to prevent Foden twice in the first half. Alisson could have done a bit better with the first goal, but the second goal was a deflection from Matip that took it away from him.

James Milner – 5/10

As the speculation aroused who will be playing, as the right-back after Trent Alexander Arnold missing the game with an injury. Milner had a promising start and slowly it went down with the booking before halftime. He got lucky with his foul against Bernardo silva or he could have been sent off. Milner was subbed shortly after this incident. He sent in some good crosses and won two free kicks for the reds.

Joel Matip – 7/10

Manchester City was not able to stop Liverpool centre-back from dribbling into their midfield from his defensive line. His passes were so accurate and a brilliant pass to Jota to give Liverpool the first attempt on target. He was part of City’s second goal, as the ball deflected into the net after hitting him.

Virgil Van Dijk – 6/10

A Steady Performance from the Dutch Skipper, who didn’t have any major flashpoint. But he finished the game with 92% pass completion and seven out of 12 long pass completion.

Andy Robertson – 6/10

A decent game for the Scottish International, but still needs quality in his crosses. He was not much involved in attacking but had a promising Second half.

Midfield

Fabinho – 5/10

He was not able to take control in the midfield and had very little involvement in the first half. He had a very good chance to give Liverpool a late winner with an open goal, but the Brazilian’s shot was blocked by Rodri

Jordan Henderson – 5/10

The skipper had a tough day at the office with 50% of pass completion and was not able to work the midfield, as the game progressed he couldn’t keep up with City’s pace.

Curtis Jones – 6/10

Decent performance for the young midfielder who showed some promising attacking form with a couple of drives from the left in the beginning but he also struggled in the midfield like the rest of his teammates. He gets the assist for Salah’s wonder goal.

Forward

Mohamed Salah (RW) – 9.5/10 (Man Of The Match)

An outstanding performance from the Egyptian magician. A brilliant run in the right flank drawing Rodri away from his position before sliding in a through pass for Mane to score. His goal was out of this world as he dribbled past half the city players and finished it with a powerful shot with his weak foot from a tight angle.

Diogo Jota (ST) – 6/10

Another goalless game for the Portuguese, who barely touched the ball in the first half. He made some brilliant movements but couldn’t capitalize on them.

Sadio Mane (LW) – 8/10

A perfect run in between the defenders and making himself available to receive Salah’s pass, before finishing it with a beautiful shot to give Liverpool the lead. With a lot of hit and miss in the past few games, Mane found the Net in the most important game of the season.

Substitutes

Roberto Firmino (on for Jota, 68′) – 5.5/10

It was a difficult game to come into and the Brazilian couldn’t really get himself involved in the game in his 25 minutes.

Joe Gomez (on for Milner, 78′) – 5/10

Gomez had to be sharp as the city was targeting the left side since Kick off, but he didn’t involve much as he replaced Milner at right-back for the last 15 minutes of the game.
