League leaders Man City have been dealt another defensive injury concern
Man City have been informed of a ‘potential injury’ to key defender John Stones. This news comes ahead of their ‘crucial’ matches against Liverpool.
John Stone had to be pulled off by National team manager Gareth Southgate ahead of their game against Switzerland.
Injury Concern for Man City
John Stones picked up an injury only minutes before kick-off at Wembley. Arsenal defender Ben White replaced Stones in the Starting XI.
This might have put Man City manager Pep Guardiola in a state of concern. With fellow defender Ruben Dias already being ruled out with ‘a hamstring injury. Pep would not like more sidelines ahead of important fixtures
Although the injury of Stones does not seem to be a major concern as of now. The injury is termed ‘not serious’.
Update from England ‘boss’ Gareth Southgate
Discussing the team’s winning performance with Sky Sports, this is what he said,
We played out from the back well, Ben White and Marc Guehi were very good. Ben got caught a bit for the goal but apart from that to come in at late notice with John Stones feeling something, he and Marc should be pleased.
The manager provided a ‘positive update’ for Manchester City fans,
He felt something in the warm-up. We don’t think it’s too serious. It’s possible he could be okay for Tuesday (against Ivory Coast), but we didn’t have time to assess it properly before the game (against Switzerland), so we didn’t want to take any chance.
Injury updates from Liverpool and City
Man city defender Ruben Dias is ‘recovering’ from his hamstring injury and John Stones will be in ‘consideration’ for the next match.
On the other side Liverpool right-back and ‘key’ player, Trent Alexander Arnold was sidelined for ‘weeks’ earlier this month. He is currently undergoing ‘rehabilitation’ in Dubai.
Both the team’s ‘Managers’ Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp would expect their players to be match fit ahead of their crucial run of matches. These players would definitely have a big role in the upcoming matches.
