The Champions League matchup between Liverpool and Real Madrid in the round of 16 is one that Jürgen Klopp said: “we should all be excited about.”

The Reds will play the Spanish team in the first knockout round of the competition in the spring. The first leg will take place at Anfield. And the return game will take place at Santiago Bernabeu.

The finals for 2018 and 2022 will be rescheduled following Monday’s draw. And despite conceding that there is still much to be done before they meet, Klopp emphasized his eagerness to face Real once more.

Jurgen Klopp is excited about playing against Liverpool’s Champions League opponents

The manager spoke exclusively with Liverpoolfc.com to express his thoughts:

“The first thing that we can say about this draw is it is proper Champions League. This is a tie that speaks for itself and one that we should all be excited about.”

“I know we have played Real Madrid in a couple of recent finals but it is not so often that our two clubs have met in a two-legged tie so now we can look forward to this happening.”

Klopp further added on saying that the most impressive European record is that of Real. This is a fact. However, we are also aware of how good ours is. Additionally, everyone is aware of the existence of Anfield and what it implies.

It has excellent attraction. a very captivating pull. Even though the games are still a few months away, it doesn’t take much imagination to imagine how the mood at each event will be.

Of course, there is still a lot of football to be played before this. So we will concentrate on each game as it happens. But this draw has given us something unique to anticipate.
