Jurgen Klopp suggests Liverpool star midfielder set to miss the UCL final

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he expects the Reds star midfielder Thiago Alcantara to miss Saturday’s Champions League (UCL) final against Real Madrid.

Thiago might miss the UCL final for Liverpool against Real Madrid

The 31-year-old started from the beginning on the final day of the Premier League season at Anfield. But he was forced to leave just before halftime after misplacing a pass to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool triumphed 3-1 in the second half without Thiago. He was replaced by James Milner, but it was not enough to overtake Manchester City for the title.

The Spanish international has struggled to remain fit during his time with the Reds. But he had begun to solidify his place in the team after a stretch of injury-free play.

After the full-time whistle, Klopp was queried about Thiago’s condition. And the Liverpool manager admitted that he had no good news to report.

Klopp said:

I think he’ll be out of the final but I don’t know. He’s limping, so it’s maybe not the best sign. Lower part of the body. I know what it is but don’t want to say,

A separate report states that he is suffering from an Achilles injury. But the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona man did not sustain any significant damage.

However, Thiago is still facing an uphill battle to make himself available for the fight with Los Blancos. And the club will monitor his progress over the next two days.

If the midfielder fails to reach the final, he will finish the 2021-22 season with two goals and five assists in 38 appearances.

Thiago has worn the Liverpool shirt 68 times since joining from Bayern Munich in 2020. But he has already missed 44 games due to injury or illness.

Reds Hopes

While Thiago is now a significant question for the final. Klopp hopes to welcome Fabinho back to the engine room as his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury progresses.

Since the injury against Aston Villa on May 10, the 28-year-old has missed the Reds’ last three games. But there is optimism that he will be fit for Saturday’s European finale.

On a less positive note, Klopp has revealed that departing attacker Divock Origi will miss the game after suffering a thigh injury in the win over Wolves.

The Belgian was still given an on-field ovation. And AC Milan is in talks to complete his contract soon.

Origi has 41 goals and 18 assists in 175 games for the club.

Reds will be facing Real Madrid for the Champions League Title. And they would be hoping to level AC Milan with 7 European titles. While Real Madrid will be hoping to extend their lead on top with their 14th.
