Jurgen Klopp has set his sights on Portuguese winger Pedro Goncalves in the January transfer window.

The Reds are looking to boost their attack and Pedro’s name has come up at the table. According to the Record, both Liverpool and Manchester United want to add the Portuguese to their squad.

Liverpool already embodies a deadly front three of Mane, Firmino, and Mohamed Salah. Yet, the German is looking to add another offensive player in January. The former Borussia man has Jota and Minamino for depth on the flanks, but both look to be unsatisfactory for the role.

The Reds have been also linked with a move for 30-year-old Lorenzo Insigne and Wolves star Adama Traore. And now, Goncalves is the latest addition to The Reds transfer list.

However, the deal won’t be cheap for the Merseyside club as according to Sport Witness Sporting have put up a price tag of £67.5m. Moreover, The Reds will face tough competition from The Red Devils, their bitter rival.

Liverpool may need to act quickly if they want Goncalves’ services, given Manchester United’s strong ties to Sporting Lisbon.

Should Jurgen sign Pedro Goncalves?

Pedro Goncalves will be a great addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side who will provide a much-needed depth in the wings.

The German manager is anxious to recruit the versatile forward in January to bolster his attacking options. The Reds only signed Ibrahima Konate over the summer, preferring to focus on signing elite quality on long-term deals, but the reality of being short of reinforcements in January may be setting in.

Salah (Egypt) and Mane (Senegal) will both be absent for the start of 2022 due to the African Cup of Nations, leaving Jota as Klopp’s sole proven forward alongside Firmino.

Liverpool should not think twice about signing the Portuguese international and taking their chances in this transfer window. Will Liverpool spend that much for Goncalves or will they hunt for a replacement? Only time will tell.
