Jurgen Klopp Harsh On Virgil Van Dijk For The Collapse Against Aston Villa!

Jurgen Klopp has thrown Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk under the bus for the shameful 3-3 draw against Aston Villa in the midweek PL clash.

The Merseysiders played the penultimate game of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool career and the ultimate away game under the German tactician’s managership as they travelled to Villa Park to take on Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

What started out as an easy game for the Reds with Villa’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper slipping the ball into his own net in the 2nd minute, to everyone’s disappointment, the match ended up in a 3-3 draw.

Even though the goals from Cody Gakpo and Jarell Quansah put LFC in the driver’s seat despite the initial equaliser scored by Youri Tielemans, the team fell short to maintain their lead which would have easily secured the much-needed three points in the somewhat alive title race.

The Reds’ skipper Virgil van Dijk made an unnecessary pass to Alexis Mac Allister under a pressure situation and that led to the second goal for the Villains via Jhon Duran.

Duran again found himself on the scoresheet as Mousa Diaby’s pass deflected off of him resulting in the equalising goal.

Liverpool VS Aston Villa: Klopp On Team’s Mistake

After the disappointing match, gaffer Jurgen Klopp reflected on the team’s performance. He stated,

“Before we changed, we gave them too many chances. It was very intense for the boys. They created too much. They were too often in our box and we made the changes. Then we made a mistake. We shouldn’t have passed the ball there. It happens but in that moment, it opens the door. The character from the boys tonight was outstanding in our situation. We wanted to win the game. In the moment, when we gave away the 3-2, that was really tricky. That’s it, that’s the story of the game.”

The ‘mistake’ Klopp talked about was clearly the needless pass from Van Dijk and the incident that followed.

Although the team was unable to secure the victory, as Liverpool will embark on Klopp’s farewell match on Sunday, the team will be looking forward to sending the legendary German off with a deserved victory.
