Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has given an update on Liverpool target Anthony Gordon. Gordon is ” in a good place” says manager Eddie Howe.

Liverpool were reportedly in advanced talks to sign Gordon in the early stages of the window. But the deal did not go through as Newcastle wanted to include Jarell Quansah in the deal. However Eddie Howe has not ruled out a last minute exit for the Englishman.

Eddie Howe speaks out on Anthony Gordon Situation

Newcastle did put Anthony Gordon up for sale as they wanted to comply with Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Newcastle ended up selling Elliot Anderson and talented forward Yankuba Minteh.

Eddie Howe via Liverpool Echo: “I’ve seen Anthony come back in a good place. Especially this past week, he had a really short training period before that first game. We put him in as he’s a difference maker, it takes the younger players less time to get up to speed but I think this week he has looked back to his best.”

Eddie Howe when asked if Anthony Gordon had a difficult summer : “I don’t know. I think that there’s two ways to look at that. The Euros will have been an incredible experience for him. The first time that he will have been with England for any length of time and I’m sure he’ll have learned, seen and experienced a lot from that.”

Newcastle are still aware of Liverpool interest but will try to keep their star winger. Not only Gordon, even Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes are wanted by other clubs, but Newcastle will try their best to keep the trio.
